Wegner, pair of CH25, 1965

The CH25 is one of Wegner’s earliest designs and demonstrates his affinity toward timber with the entire frame constructed in carved and turned wood. The enduring design has been in continuous production since 1949.

The pair of armchairs offered are dated 1965 and the oak frames have accrued a deep, warm colour. The papercord seat/back remains original.

The hand woven seat/back uses over 400m of natural papercord and married with the rake of seat and wide armrests the design provides the sitter with high comfort levels.

Hans Wegner’s career began in the offices of Arne Jacobsen in 1938. He established his own practice in 1943 and was quickly recognised through his Round chair of 1949, later known as The Chair. His prolific career generated more than 500 chair designs. Wegner created several landmark designs for seating and much of his work is held in museum collections and still in production.
