Desk for M.i.M Roma, 1960

Desk for M.i.M Roma by Ico and Luisa Parisi.

The desk designed by Ico and Luisa Parisi typifies their architectural approach towards furniture design. The outline is strong, and the method of support and fixing clearly defined. Combining solid and veneered rosewood with cast aluminium components, the desk was made to extremely high standards by the Rome based manufacturer M.i.M. This example has three lockable drawers with key and has been restored.

Ico trained as an architect and went on to work for the rationalist architect Giuseppe Terragni. The partnership between Ico and Luisa began in the late 1940’s. They married in 1947 and established a studio in Como a year later. Prior to this Luisa was a talented protegee of the architect and designer Gio Ponti. They worked together for many companies including Singer & Sons, M.i.M and Cassina.
