Harry Bertoia

Harry Bertoia was an Italian sculptor, designer and academic. His innovative use of wire rods in the Diamond Chair, made for Knoll in 1952, made the modernist man an iconic designer.

The multidisciplinary artist attended the Cranbrook Academy, it was there he worked on his design philosophy and practice. At the Academy, he worked with important figures of the modernist movement, including Charles Eames, Florence Knoll and Eero Saarinen.

His work is award-winning, receiving the AIA's gold medal.
