British industrial designer Thomas Jenkins began his experience by gaining it in the industry as a designer, followed by starting his own studio in 2010. He moved into furniture and product design after noticing the lack of connection to the end user in industrial design.
With an interest in material usage, in craft skills and in industrial methods of production, he creates designs that are "focused on interaction and daily use."
Simplicity has become a key element for Jenkins as he endeavours to create new objects with longevity that people would want to live with for many years. The right design needs to have enough presence that you grow attached to it, but not too much that you lose interest over time.
