The gravity-defying Aida table lamp was designed by architect, sculptor and designer Angelo Mangiarotti in 1988. The pioneering design of this lamp visually separates the shade from the base and is held together by a slight support pole. The lamp is an ode to Mangiarotti's architecture principles where he uses slim pillars to lift and support larger ceilings above, this is translated in the anatomy of the Aida lamp.
