AJ52 Society Desk, 1952

AJ52 Society desk by Arne Jacobsen for Carl Hansen + Son.

Originally designed as a gift for the American-Scandinavian Foundation's New York office in 1952, Carl Hansen has launched the AJ52 desk. A unique and modern design, the table features a desk, lamp, table shelf and drawers in an impressive single structure.

The desk is made of solid wood, veneer and steel, with the tabletop covered with a fine-structured leather. The wooden shelf features two compartments with glass sides and an integrated stainless-steel lamp. Mounted on the desk's underside is a drawer unit suspended by metal tubes. The thoughtfully designed desk maintains an overall visual lightness with its slim and exposed detailing.

Drawers can be mounted on the left or right side of the table.

The desk can be ordered without the lamp module. Please contact us here for further information.

The desk comes in two sizes.

Carl Hansen opened his furniture workshop in Odense, Denmark in 1908 and soon became known for the high quality of his work.

In the early days, the company produced bespoke furniture – including everything from dining room sets to bedroom suites. As the company grew and times changed, however, it gradually began to produce smaller series of its most popular pieces. This combination of hand craftsmanship and rational series production soon became the firm’s hallmark – and continues to set it apart today.
