Re-Engineered Brown Betty
Re-engineered Brown Betty Teapot by Ian McIntyre for Cauldon Ceramics.
The archetypal Brown Betty teapot has been re-engineered by ceramicist Ian McIntyre and traditional redware-manufacturer, Cauldon Ceramics. The new edition reintroduces previous innovations in the teapot's history, including the 'non-drip spout' and 'locking lid' patented by Alcock, Lindley and Bloore in 1920.
Great care has been taken to preserve the history and tradition of the Brown Betty while implementing new production processes. The teapot's design has retained its recognisable portly shape and rich tone, a result of the long-established red Etruria Marl clay and treacle brown Rockingham glaze.
