Aluminium chair, 2018
Aluminium chair by Marc Newson for Knoll.
Paying tribute to the Mies van der Rohe’s 1928 Tugendhat Chair and Brno Chair, the Newson Aluminium chair employs reverse cantilever design with modern material. The design evokes visual weightlessness and renders an incredibly simple profile. The seat floats effortlessly and is secured to the back via the legs.
The chair features an aluminium main-frame allowing for a more dynamic form factor. The two end caps connect to create an effortless, yet structurally strong structure. The engineering complexity is made invisible through mechanical precision and streamlined design.
