Inspired by the infamous beagle from Charles M. Schulz's comic strip, Peanuts, Achille and Pier Castiglioni's snout-shaped lamp is aptly named Snoopy. Designed in 1967, the jovial light is defined by its minimalist graphic form comprised of an enamelled metal lampshade atop a cylindrical marble base.
Innovative for its time, the initial design featured a progressive dimming system housed in the base, as well as three cooling holes in the shade, much like a bowling ball, which double as a grip for ease of movement.
There is an ON-OFF dimmer with a sensor located on the marble base.
