Lucienne Day Flower Brick, 2017

Lucienne Day Centenary Edition Flower Brick by Lucienne Day for twentytwentyone

In 2017 twentytwentyone celebrated Lucienne Day's centenary with the release of her Flower Brick design in a limited, numbered edition of 100 pieces (25 of each model and size).

The edition was launched with our exhibition Day for Flowers, which saw leading figures from the design world create their own floral tribute to Lucienne Day using single or multiple Flower Bricks.

The centenary edition flower brick sold out shortly after its launch, but this design is now available in a new production produced by Stoke-on-Trent-based ceramics manufacturer 1882 Ltd

Britain's foremost twentieth-century textile designer, Lucienne Day originally developed her Flower Brick designs in the early 1960s. They were put into production by Bristol Potteries in 1966.

The flower brick has its origins in the decorative Delftware produced during the eighteenth century to hold ornate floral displays. The Lucienne Day design was for two sizes, with a trio of surface decorations, always with a black lid.

The Lucienne Day Centenary Edition Flower Brick is part of the Lucienne Day Collection®  made by twentytwentyone under licence from the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation.
