The modern designer Hannes Wettstein was born in Ascona in 1958. The Swiss designer trained in draftsmanship and architecture, becoming interested in the technology and evolution of art history. His work reflects this with an interest in creating original pieces which utilise the materials of today.
His industrial-designed furniture and homewares offer minimal but effective solutions to the problems of everyday life. He said of his design philosophy, 'Those who want to live frugally buy things of value'. His contemporary classics winning him awards such as the Compasso d'Oro in 2004.
He has worked with the giants of international design; collaborating with Cassina, Shimano, Artemide and the Molteni Group.
