Stone House - Islington
twentytwentyone was approached by Architecture for London to supply a range of furniture to the Stone House, a Grade II listed property located in Barnsbury, Islington.
The property, which was refurbished by the Farringdon based architecture and design studio, has been transformed into a spacious home designed for social family living.
The once dark lower ground, which was previously divided by smaller rooms, has been opened up and replaced with a kitchen with a four-metre-long stone island.
At the rear of the property, an extension has been added to create a sunny stone pavilion with heavy oak framed glazing that echoes the proportions of the historic facade. The existing lightwell has been transformed using bush-hammered stone, appearing as though it has been carved into a rock face.
Outside, the curved terrace has been designed to follow the sun's path to receive ample light throughout the afternoon.
twentytwentyone provided a selection of contemporary furniture from Vaarnii and twentytwentyone's range to complement the building's interior.
Exclusively represented by twentytwentyone in the UK, Vaarnii made its international debut in 2021 at twentytwentyone's London Design Festival exhibition, Back + Forth. The Stone House has been furnished with a selection of furniture from the Finnish design brand's inaugural collection, including the 001 Dining Chair, the 006 Lounge Chair, the 008 Alter Mirror and the 009 bowls.
From twentytwentyone's range of collaborations, we supplied the Hotaru Anniversary Edition Table light and the Tea Trolley 901 Anniversary Edition, which were released in 2021 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We also provided the Robin Day Reclining Chair, widely considered to be one of Robin Day's most iconic designs.
