The PL5.02 Portable Lamp from George Sowden's SHADES collection is a unique light made from silicone. During his exploration of the use of soft silicone for another project, Sowden discovered how durable, non-toxic and easy-to-clean the material was while also diffusing light perfectly.
A small, rechargeable USB lamp, the PL5.02 boasts a glossy red stand with a blue base and a contrasting white silicone shade, creating an interesting proportion of forms. The silicon emits a soft and warm light when the lamp is turned on and is controlled by tapping the top of the shade, which has three different dimmable settings.
When fully charged the lamp provides four to ten hours of light, depending on the degree of brightness. Battery fully charged after approximately three hours.
