Astier de Villatte Candle

Scented candles by Astier de Villatte.

Astier de Villatte candles are scented with perfumes specially developed by celebrated perfumer Françoise Caron, in collaboration with the Takagaso Perfumery in Japan. Each fragrance evokes the distinct and alluring character of a different destination around the world.

Stockholm: This historic scent was given by the Swedish King to his Viking soldiers, for invincibility. A striking mix of wild plants, cloves, lavandin, myrrh, vetiver and sage

Nara: Inspired by a small and tranquil Japanese town by the same name. Full of beautiful temples and a park with freely roaming deers, this namesake scent features the essences of sandalwood amyris, ginger roots, sambac jasmine, amber and cashmeran.

Aoyama: A Japanese-inspired scent, reminiscent of incense and Patchouli-esque damp wood lightened by notes of fresh linen.

Jerusalem: A heady mix of oud, cedarwood and nutmeg, topped with vegetal gum resin and cypress to evoke the ancient and hot passageways of the city.

Villa Medicis: This fragrance encapsulates the essence of Rome's Villa Midici's  artists' workshops which overlook the majestic gardens, where the scents of lemon, lavender, and cedar pervade the air.

Grand Chalet: Inspired by the Grand Chalet, a magnificent wooden structure amidst Swiss Alpine pastures, this scent evokes the solace that painter Balthus found here, embraced by the fragrances of milk, honey, and citrus from ancient lime trees.

The candles contain a fine blend of vegetable and beeswax without any petrochemical products. Wicks are pure braided cotton and have a slow burn time of 60-70 hours, depending on the scent.

The glass container has been hand-blown in Tuscany and can be retained for use after the wax is finished.
