Magnus Læssøe Stephensen

A renowned architect and furniture designer, Magnus Læssøe Stephensen is known for his distinct style inspired by functionalism, Japanese design and the Bauhaus movement.

He was considered "a revolutionary", playing a critical role in the Golden Age of Danish Design. His curating of the Annual Guild Exhibition, where he prohibited the typical bourgeois polished mahogany furniture from the exhibition, is regarded as the starting point of the movement. As a result, a new democratic mindset that suggested design was about improving people's lives was adopted.
