For One DAY Only

In 2021, as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, we launched a limited edition of the Robin Day Reclining Chair. The chair was upholstered in vibrant orange Cloughmore, a fabric from the Mourne Textiles archive first designed by Gerd Hay-Edie in 1972.

For photographer, long-time friend and collaborator of twentytwentyone, Mark Whitfield, it was love at first sight. Being both a chair aficionado and self-confessed lover of all things orange, Mark has not only enjoyed the comfort of Robin Day's iconic design but has been sketching and creating paintings of his chair ever since.

Recently, over a coffee, Mark kindly gifted the team at twentytwentyone some watercolours of his chair and a plan was hatched to bring the process For One DAY Only to the Islington store.

Come along and select an A5, A4 or A3 original painting of Mark’s chair in exchange for a donation; all proceeds to the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration. The only UK charity that celebrates and supports illustration, illustrators, and the art of visual storytelling.

Founded by renowned artist Quentin Blake in 2002, the charity is beginning work on their new heritage site location at New River Head, a stone's throw from our River Street showroom.

An in-store framing service will also be available, using Danish lifestyle brand Moebe's elemental oak frames, with a bespoke banding detail available to compliment your characterful painting.
