Pietro Chiesa

Following a family of Ticino-based artists, After working as an apprentice for Giannotti glassworks, Pietro Chiesa established his own glassmaking store in 1921.

His work was also exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Monza Biennale, the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and exhibitions in Cologne and Barcelona. Pietro Chiesa's work embodies modern and expert technical skill. His work includes the glass windows of the Trieste Stock Exchange and the windows of the Motorship Victoria.

In 1932 Chiesa worked alongside Gio Ponti, their artistic direction led to the establishment of FontanaArte. At FontanaArte, Pietro was able to demonstrate his creative abilities and work on thousands of products including furniture and lamps. Some of his designs now are part of the history of design and continue to be manufactured by FontanaArte today.
