Cypriot-born, Michael Anastassiades studied Civil Engineering at Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine and went on to complete a Masters Degree in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art in London. After working freelance with various renowned Design practices, he set up his own studio in 1994.
Since 1994 Anastassiades has been exploring contemporary perceptions of culture and aesthetics in his product, furniture and environmental designs. His work blurs the line between fine Art and Design and encourages discussion and interaction. Using a minimal language he personalises these objects, giving them identity and vitality they might otherwise not possess.
His work is featured in the permanent collections of the MoMA (New York) the V&A (London) and the Crafts Council (London). With clients that include Swarovski, Rosenthal, and Hussein Chalayan.
