Blue Skies
Blue Skies by Michael Anastassiades.
Michael Anastassiades's Blue Skies, designed in 2023, is inspired by an ancient theory that the moon was flat, with one side displaying a silvery-white color, and the other side being black. According to this theory, the orbiting of this half-black, half-white moon around the Earth caused the lunar phases.
The sculptural table light features a hinoki wood and tosa-washi paper shade supported by a reflective, silver base. A light beam is projected upward from the base, and is caught by the angled paper shade above, resulting in a calming glow which accentuates the texture of the paper.
