VLA62 Radio House Mirror
VLA62 Radio House Mirror by Vilhelm Lauritzen for Carl Hansen & Son.
Designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1945 for the Royal Retiring Room in Copenhagen's Radio House, the VLA62 is a full-length mirror composed of eight intricately carved pieces. Meticulously crafted, these pieces are carefully matched to ensure a continuous grain and then sanded by hand to ensure a smooth, tactile finish.
The mirror was designed to sit within a room that served as the royal chambers to the royal box, overlooking the concert hall in what is now the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Lauritzen designed every piece of furniture in this room, like in the entire building, explicitly showcasing his artistic vision as both architect and designer.
