The first free-form table in this series was designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1928 for her studio in Montparnasse. The 538 “free-form desk”, conveys its timeless elegance through soft shapes and the warmth of the wood. Its rounded asymmetric form makes it ideally suited to smaller spaces and its lack of corners allows its users to negotiate its shape.
Innovative for the year of its debut in 1952, the model was re-issued by Cassina. The design is complemented by three support legs, one larger and oval-shaped, the other two cylindrical. Available in multiple finishes. A larger, table alternative is also available, please see 'Product Range' below.

Materials
The table is made from solid wood and has a rounded surface.
It is available in solid walnut or mahogany and matt lacquered wood. Different tabletop colour finishes are available for matt laquered only, please refer to the finishes pdf in the downloads section for more information.
Wood is a natural material, subject to changes caused by external factors such as sunlight, temperature, humidity and daily use.
These changes are not to be considered as faults but peculiarities of the material, emphasising its natural beauty.
