Taro round table, 2016

Taro round table by Jasper Morrison for Fredericia.

The Taro round table is part of a family of classic dining and meeting tables designed by Jasper Morrison. Made of solid oak, the collection paying homage to Børge Mogensen’s iconic table designs.

The tabletop features longitudinal machined grooves along the table surface referencing the traditional plank table. The use of carefully selected knotless oak and minimal quartersawn staves creates a refined and streamlined finish.

Morrison was inspired to design the Taro table in order to make use of the premium grade quartersawn oak which is used in the production of many Fredericia furniture pieces. The timber used at the Fredericia factory comes from trees aged upwards of 150 years old when felled. The use of narrow staves for the tabletop ensures efficient use of the available wood while enhancing the overall elegance of the design.

Available in two sizes, the versatile round Taro table is suitable for use in a kitchen, dining room or meeting room.

Fredericia was first established as the Fredericia Stolefabrik (Fredericia Chair Factory) in 1911 and specialised in antique style furniture.

Fredericia was first established as the Fredericia Stolefabrik (Fredericia Chair Factory) in 1911 and specialised in antique style furniture.

In 1955 the languishing company was acquired by Andreas Graversen who scrapped the existing product line and created a new one with the help of young architect, Børge Mogensen.

The company was taken over by Graversen's son, Thomas Graversen, in 1995. He led the company into the new century with a more fluid approach to design and production. Together with designers like Nanna Ditzel, he created a number of internationally recognised furniture pieces while at the same time continuing to produce the best of Mogensen's designs.
