Harry Bertoia | Wire side chair | 1952
Harry Bertoia’s work as a sculptor was translated into furniture design in the early 1950’s with a family of chairs that exploited bent and welded steel rods.
“If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes through them”
Knoll International has produced the series continuously since 1952. The side chairs offered have their original vinyl seat pads and probably date from the mid 1960’s.
This item has now been sold.
