Barnaby Mount Street is a chocolate bar shop that opened in Mayfair in March 2026, with creative direction and interior design by London-based Morrisstudio. As the fourth physical location for the handcrafted confectionery brand, it invites customers to select ingredients and have bespoke chocolate bars made to order in-store.
The design draws on the tradition of classic Mayfair specialist shops, particularly those of the 1970s, where goods were crafted on-site in downstairs workshops. This influence is reflected in the interior, where dark wood panelling lines the walls and olive green carpet evokes the era’s retail character. Overhead, a luminous ceiling lightbox introduces a contemporary counterpoint, diffusing light evenly across the room.
The twentytwentyone contracts team supplied the Tasca round table by Pedro Sottomayor and Petit Rond chairs by Troels Grum-Schwensen, both produced by Danish brand FRAMA. Crafted from natural materials, the pieces introduce a restrained modern counterpoint. The brushed finish of the metal subtly echoes interior detailing, while its clean lines contrast with the richness of the timber panelling.
Marquetry wall panels reference Arts and Crafts traditions, depicting pastoral British scenes of fields, plough horses, and timber-framed houses. These details connect the space to a broader narrative of British craftsmanship and heritage. Leather-upholstered High Dot bar stools by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen tie Barnaby’s distinct branding and warm yellow tones into the 1970s-inspired backdrop.
Blending bespoke production with layered references to craft and retail history, the space strikes a balance between nostalgia and contemporary design in a distinctly considered way.
