Superfolk Printing Demo

To celebrate the arrival of Spring, Irish design studio Superfolk will be offering a printmaking demonstration at our Upper Street shop on Saturday 24th March 11am – 1pm.

This is an exceptional opportunity to view the process by which Superfolk’s delicate, textured works of art are created using only water-based inks, a hand-carved block and Japanese washi paper.

Jo Anne Butler of Superfolk will be hand-inking and block-printing Superfolk’s Dandelion print. Combining fresh foliage with citrus-bright colour, this Spring-themed image will be available to purchase on the day, alongside other Superfolk prints inspired by the seaweed and plant life of the Irish coast.

The Superfolk design studio is based on the rugged west coast of Ireland and was founded in 2009 by artist, designer and architect Jo Anne Butler and designer Gearóid Muldowney.

Superfolk’s range of beautifully pared-back homewares are inspired by outdoor living and are crafted using the finest natural materials and time-honoured techniques. Their work evokes the changing in colours and seasons of the weather, wildlife, and surrounding landscape.

Visit our Upper Street shop to see the pair in action as they mix inks and make prints from their hand-carved blocks. The inks are pushed and pulled, drawing out gentle variations in hues, meaning that no two prints will ever be exactly the same.

The Superfolk range is available in-store and online.
