Antoni de Moragas Gallissà was born in Barcelona in 1949, where he trained and practised as an architect. He balanced his commitment to modernist design principles with a keen social awareness and an organic approach to form-making and use of materials.
Along with fellow designers such as Miguel Milá, André Ricard, Bohigas, Cirici Pellicer, Manel Cases and Rafael Marquina he founded the ADI-FAD (Industrial Design Association) and acted as the organisation's first president.
In addition to working as a highly successful architect, Moragas produced a range of furniture and lighting designs, a selection of which are now reissued by Santa & Cole.
