Cambridge Imprint is a paper-making business comprised of painter Claerwen James, textile artist Jane Powell and ceramicist Ali Murphy. The trio, based in Cambridge, design and print patterned paper using hand-stencilled screen-printing and spot-colour lithography. Creating matte paper with intense colour.
The company aims to create an authentic product, drawn and made almost entirely by hand that produces a more organic and improvised aesthetic.
Virtually all Cambridge Imprint products are designed, sourced from, manufactured, finished and packaged in England. The inks used are vegetable oil-based, each mixed per job, and the paper is uncoated therefore making all products completely recyclable and biodegradable. The stock used for printing is Forest Stewardship Council certified, ensuring it is produced from sustainable sources. Products are packaged in the minimum amount of packaging and uses no plastic.
