Cecilie Manz

Cecilie Manz (born 1972) is a Danish industrial designer. First exposed to the world of design as the daughter of artist parents, she has gone on to be considered one of the leading Danish furniture designers of her generation.

She began studying at the Danish School of Design in 1992. Her great interest in function and conceptualisation took her on an exchange to Helsinki, where she attended the Finnish University of Art and Design. In 1998, a year after she graduated from the Danish School of Design, she started her own studio, Manz Lab, which has been the centre of her work ever since.

Additionally, Manz has designed for brands such as Fredericia, Maruni, Vaarnii, Nikari, Fritz Hansen, Muuto, and Rosendahl and has exhibited worldwide. Her work is permanently represented at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Designmuseum Danmark.

She has received numerous prestigious awards for her conceptual design work, including the Crown Prince Couple’s Culture Prize in Denmark. She is admired for her continuous creativity and her ability to create awe with innovative designs and the use of materials and new forms.
