De Lucchi + Fassina

Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina are Italian designers. 

De Lucchi studied architecture in Florence. Michele De Lucchi played an influential role during the time of radical experimental architecture, being part of the Cavart, Alchimia and Memphis movements. He has designed modern and industrial lamps and furniture for a number of prominent European manufacturers including Artemide, Olivetti and Alias. Also, De Lucchi has been instrumental in a number of architectural projects including the city of Milan: the pavilions for Expo 2015. 

Giancarlo Fassina also studied architecture in Milan, and his main design focus has been lighting. Taking into consideration form and expression, to create illuminating shadows and exposures. During his time as a designer, he has collaborated with many substantial lighting manufacturers and has created installations for exhibitions. 

Together Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina have collaborated to make versatile and experimental lighting for Artemide and won the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 for the design of Artemide’s Tolomeo.
