Born in 1938 the German designer Dorothee Becker has created practical and playful designs for Vitra.
Becker studied languages in Frankfurt and then Munich, going on to live in London, Paris and California. In 1989 she relocated with her husband and industrial designer Ingo Maurer, back to Germany. The pair founded a homewares shop, where they championed the practicality of the everyday object. The shop closed in the 1990s but Becker has continued to design quality and functional products since.
