James Irvine

The British designer James Irvine was born in 1958. After the industrial designer graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1984, he moved to Milan to work as a design consultant for Olivetti. Working at this prestigious design house, Irvine was guided by the iconic Italian designers Michelle De Lucchi and Ettore Sottsass. 

His modern utilitarian work created collaborations with many global brands, including Muji, Phaidon, Thonet, B&B Italia, Artemide and Marsotto. In 2000 he was elected the Royal Designer for Industry by Royal Society of Arts and in 2007 he was given an Honorary Doctorate in Design from Kingston University.
