Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison is a prolific contemporary designer, recognised for his thoughtful approach to everyday objects. He has worked with leading manufacturers such as Alessi, Vitra, Flos, and Maruni, creating furniture, lighting and household products that are defined by clarity and restraint.
Born in London in 1959, Morrison attended Kingston Polytechnic Design School from 1979 to 1982. He continued his education at the Royal College of Art and then on to Berlin's HdK. He set up his design studio in 1986, initially producing work for SCP, and gradually built an international reputation through collaborations with established brands and designers.
A key insight into his thinking can be found in his book Super Normal, written with Naoto Fukasawa. In it, Morrison argues that the most successful designs are often the least conspicuous — objects that feel so natural and well-judged they almost disappear into daily life. Now based in London and Paris, he continues to design with this quiet, enduring sensibility. The designer is currently based in London and Paris, continuing to collaborate with other designers, studios and manufacturers.
