Johanna Gullichsen

Johanna Gullichsen is an award-winning textile designer born in Somero, Finland. After studying art history, literature, and languages at the University of Helsinki, she furthered her studies in the skill of weaving at Porvoo Crafts School. Gullichsen now runs her own brand which specialises in woven textiles for contemporary living. Her fabrics display seemingly simple, yet elegant patterns inspired by intricate hand-woven techniques. Gullichsen’s textiles draw inspiration from natural materials and traditional Nordic design and each product in her collection is informed by the fabric's material or pattern. In recognition of her work, Johanna Gullichsen received the prestigious Kaj Franck Design Prize in 2021.
