Kazuhide Takahama was born in Japan in 1930. after studying at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, the designer was allowed to create the Japanese Pavilion for the Milan Triennale. Whilst in Milan curating his structure, he encountered Dino Gavina, who invited him to design furniture for his company.
Takahama’s work is characterised by a fusion of the East and Wests design principles. While his use of materials and construction were fully modern, his pieces overall effect was one of simplicity.
