Peter Bysted

Peter Bysted is a Danish designer who studied to become an architect and industrial designer at the Aarhus School of Architecture. Prior to his graduation in the late 1970s, Bysted entered a competition with Louis Poulsen to explore the preservation of light emanation. He came second with 'Bysted', an outdoor bollard made from corten steel, still in production today.

Whilst at university, Bysted took a great interest in graphic design. Combined with his appointed degree subject, this led him to form his design and communicational firm, Bysted A/S, in 1987. Since then, he has worked as vice-chancellor of The Danish Design School and established ICONO A/S, a multi-disciplinary consultancy firm focused on design.
