Alvar Aalto designed his tea trolley in 1936, refining an often fussy and decorative item of furniture into a minimal and graceful form. It has since become a classic of modern Scandinavian design.
The 901 tea trolley has a structure formed from two loops of natural lacquered birch which accommodate two large white wheels with black rubber treads. A handle spans the rear width of the trolley, allowing it to be moved with ease.
In 2015 Artek launched a reinterpretation of Aalto's original design by Hella Jongerius, which offers this design classic with a black lacquered frame.

Materials
Form-bent solid birch lamella with wheels in MDF, with a black rubber ring. The top and shelf are made from a high-pressure laminate and linoleum.
Available in three finishes: natural lacquered birch frame with white lacquered shelves, natural lacquered birch frame with black linoleum shelves, or black lacquered frame with bottom shelf in charcoal linoleum and top shelf in peat linoleum.
The wheels are white lacquered for all finishes, apart from the black lacquered trolley with peat lacquered wheels.
