Chair 65
Chair 65 by Alvar Aalto for Artek.
Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935, the Chair 65 reflects the iconic designer’s dedication to both clean lines and function. With its graceful, sweeping curves and refined simplicity, the chair combines Aalto’s use of bent wood with a lightweight, sculptural quality that complements both modern and classic interiors. The Chair 65 features Aalto’s characteristic round seat and legs, complemented by a gently curved low back that follows the natural shape of the spine and fits comfortably under a table.
Made in Finland from high-quality birch wood, the Chair 65 is part of Aalto’s pioneering L-leg collection, a hallmark of his inventive design approach. The innovative L-leg technique, which involves inserting veneer strips into precisely cut slots at the end of a wooden piece, not only reinforces the structure but also gives each piece its distinctive, elegant appearance. Developed in collaboration with furniture manufacturer Otto Korhonen, this technique was patented in 1933 and revolutionised furniture production.
The Chair 65 is both practical and timeless, designed to withstand everyday use while adding an archetypal Artek piece to any space. Choose from various natural, stained or lacquered finishes. Also available with an upholstered seat.
Assembly required.
