EK61 Opal Pendant
EK61 Opal Pendant by Esben Klint for Carl Hansen and Son.
Designed in 1961 by Danish architect and cabinetmaker Esben Klint, the son of prominent designer Kaare Klint, the EK61 Opal Pendant is being produced for the first time by Carl Hansen and Son in 2024.
Originally designed in pleated plastic, the design was too complicated to produce at the time and so remained in the family archives for decades. The modern iteration of the EK61 is crafted using traditional methods, with pleated, mouth-blown opal glass combined with oak details that are turned and honed by hand. The opal glass diffuses the light, emitting a soft, indirect glow.
The elegant pendant is available in three sizes to suit modern spaces and needs, hung as a single pendant or in a cluster.
