CH25 Lounge Chair
CH25 Lounge Chair by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son.
The CH25 lounge chair, designed in 1950, was amongst the first chairs created by Hans J. Wegner.
The choice of woven paper cord for the seat and back was completely novel and driven by the war-time restrictions. However, the bold design proved an instant success and over 65 years on, the ch25 has become a classic furniture design piece.
A lot of expertise comes into the handwoven parts of the chair: it takes a skilled craftsman 10 hours to weave the approximately 400m of paper cord in a unique pattern.
