Dot Stool

Dot Stool by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen.

In 1954, Arne Jacobsen collaborated with the Danish furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen to create the Dot stool - a contemporary, minimalist, and refined design suitable for essential or additional seating in office and home settings.

Jacobsen's emphasis on minimising materials guided the design of Dot, resulting in a graceful and sophisticated expression. Equipped initially with three legs, a fourth leg was added in the 1970s, with the original design no longer in production.

The Dot found its place in several of Jacobsen's projects, most notably in the Rødovre Town Hall, a project overseen by Arne Jacobsen and unveiled in 1956. Within the lobby of Town Hall, Dot stools were used as waiting seats, accompanied by round backrests affixed to the wall. This versatile arrangement mirrors Jacobsen's commitment to enhancing functionality and adaptability.
