Egg Footstool by Arne Jacobsen by Fritz Hansen.
In 1958, Arne Jacobsen was commissioned to design every element of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, from the building itself to the furniture within it.
Whilst the building exterior was characterised by its minimalist, rectilinear form, the interior comprised a rich and diverse collection of forms, textures, and sophisticated details.
Jacobsen used this project as an opportunity to implement his design and architecture theories, with the Egg Chair and Footstool emerging as the crowns of his overall design concept for the hotel.
The chair and ottoman were created using a new method, which involved shaping hard foam material, then padding and upholstering it. This is different from the traditional approach of using a steel frame and wood.

Materials
The Egg ottoman is available in a wide variety of fabric upholstery as well as leather, always combined with a star-shaped base.
The base is available in a satin burshed aluminium or powder coated steel in silver grey, warm graphite, brown bronze or black.
