It was originally designed by the renowned Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld with the aim to create modern and functional furniture using surplus wooden crates. The collection still retains the designer's aesthetic vision and precise proportions, with a simple and well-designed form. The collection includes a lounge chair, lounge sofa, dining chair, dining bench, low table, and side table, all made of solid pine and finished with a water-based coating. This makes the Crate Collection perfect for a variety of settings, both indoors and outdoors, from cafes and public spaces to private gardens.
The product is a perfect combination of modern design and timeless aesthetics. Relaunched by Rietveld Originals with HAY, the collection is made with care, honouring the original design and preserving its strength and balance.
Assembly is easy with a knock-down construction that only requires screw assembly. Made from solid pinewood with a special treatment for outdoor use, this product is FSC™-certified and perfect for any outdoor or indoor space, whether it's for private or public use.

The Crate Cushion is a functional accessory that aims to increase the comfort of the Crate Collection while adding extra features. The seat and folding cushions are equipped with an anti-slip bottom to keep them firmly in place. The cushions are made of Teflon®-coated fabric, which provides a water-repellent finish and has high UV resistance, ensuring it is fade-resistant with good colour fastness properties. The Crate Cushions are suitable for year-round use.
Cushions available in Beige, Sky Grey, Anthracite or Iron Red colour.
