HAY was founded in 2002 by Danish couple Rolf and Mette Hay and business partner Troels Holch Povlsen.
The couple who met while working at Danish furniture brand Gubi had a clear idea that furniture design and price should both be accessible to the widest possible audience. It is still this goal, coupled with an ambition to return Danish furniture design to the innovative greatness of the 1950’s and 1960’s in a contemporary context, which drive the business today. By creating meaningful, practical and accessible furniture, lighting and accessories Hay hope to contribute to making every day a little nicer.
