Comodo storage table, 1988
Comodo storage table by Achille Castiglioni and Giancarlo Pozzi for Karakter.
Comodo is a versatile piece of furniture that typifies Castiglioni's uniquely questioning design approach.
A metal stem with an expressive tripod base supports a wooden box with a hinged tray shaped lid. Reminiscent of traditional wooden sewing boxes, this hinged lid raises to reveal a compartment which can be used to store all manner of small items. Castiglioni is reputed to have used his own Commodo to store a selection of sweets.
Karakter's reissue of this notable design, authorised by La Fondazione Achille Castiglioni, ensures its appreciation by a new generation of design enthusiasts.
This elegant and multi-purpose unit can be used as a bedside table, a standing tray, a side table or simply as a storage box.

Copenhagen-based company Karakter produces a select range of classic and contemporary furniture and lighting from some of the leading lights of twentieth-century design.
Their impressive rosta of progressive designs includes classic works from luminaries such as Achille Castiglioni, Joe Colombo and contemporary figures such as Aldo Bakker.
Karakter defines its philosophy as "seeking out designs that are out of the ordinary - from designers who have already written the history of design to those who are aspiring to write its future."
