Designed for the 1929 German pavilion at the international exhibition in Barcelona, the Barcelona day bed has a hand-buffed hardwood frame and upholstery in individual leather squares welted together.
Designed in 1930, the Barcelona Couch shares the same simple elegance as the iconic lounge chair of the same name. Mies van der Rohe's command of line and material in all medium, from architecture to furniture, helped define the modern furniture vocabulary.

Designed for the 1929 German pavilion at the international exhibition in Barcelona, the Barcelona day bed has a hand-buffed hardwood frame and upholstery in individual leather squares welted together.

Materials
Chrome steel hand-ground and hand-buffed to mirror finish. Upholstery straps attached with aluminium rivets.
Seat belting straps made from cowhide with side and all edges dyed to match upholstery colour.
Seat in urethane foam with dacron polyester fibrefill, upholstered with hand-cut eather and buttons made from a single hide. Secured to the frame with straps.
The KnollStudio logo and signature of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe are stamped into each piece.
