Notable for their innovative glare-free form and uniform illumination, Poul Henningsen's PH light fixtures are widely acknowledged as a classic of Danish design.
Based on a three-shade system that Henningsen developed in 1926, the PH 5/5 is considered a 'whole' sized pendant, meaning that the top shade, which is 50 cm in diameter, corresponds with the two lower shades in the proportions of 3:2:1.
Louis Poulsen suggests that the 'whole' sized fixtures are better suited to placing high within a room, whilst 'hybrid' sizes are ideal for low hanging. This is due to the 'whole' sized lamps emitting a particularly glare-free light, whilst the 'hybrid' lights produce a direct lighting and warmer atmosphere.

Materials
The PH 5/5 shade in black metal is crafted from spun aluminium, whilst the metal black/glass pendant is crafted from mouth-blown white opal glass and spun aluminium.
The diffuser is made from frosted glass.
The suspension and canopy are made from die casted zinc.
E27 recommended light source: 1 x 60W E27.
LED light source: 2700K.
IP20.
The LED light fixture is phase-cut dimmable.
