VL 56 Pendant by Vihlem Lauritzen for Louis Poulsen.
Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VL 56 pendant to sit within the Folkets Hus in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. The building, which opened in 1956 to serve the Danish Labour Movement, is a gesamtkunstwerk, meaning Lauritzen designed every detail from doorknobs, staircases, and power outlets to furniture and lighting fixtures. Today, the building has transformed into a concert hall named Vega, still showcasing many of the original design elements.
Among the assortment of lighting pieces created by Lauritzen for the building, the VL 56 Pendant remains above the wooden bar adjacent to the main concert hall. In 2023, both chrome and brass versions of this pendant were reintroduced, featuring subtle refinements and enhancements.
