Slatted Bench cushion

Mourne Slatted Bench cushion by Gerd Hay-Edie for Mourne Textiles.

twentytwentyone have marked the relaunch of the 1954 Slatted Bench by Robin Day with a collaboration with Mourne Textiles, honouring the close working relationship between Day and noted textiles designer and founder of Mourne Textiles, Gerd Hay-Edie.

Hay-Edie started to work with Robin Day in 1951 and her rugs formed part of designs that were recognised with a silver medal at La Triennale de Milano. Her woven textiles were used throughout Hille productions in the early 1950s and the productive relationship continued for a decade.

Four colours have been selected and matched from original heritage palettes in the Mourne archive: white Cloud, Granite, yellow Gorse and green Tollymore.

The cushion design echoes those seen in historical images from the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation photographic archive, with zipped covers and plain seam.
