CH 24 Spring Promotion
The Y-chair or the Wishbone chair as it is often called – due to the shape of the back – is a lightweight chair, and despite being an armchair, remains a relatively small piece of furniture. The curved hind legs and semicircular top come together to form the elegant Y-back, giving a gracious and welcoming air.
The design of the CH 24 chair dates as far back as 1949 and was the first of Hans Wegner's chairs manufactured by Carl Hansen + Son.
Opened in 1908, Carl Hansen’s workshop initially produced hand-crafted bespoke furniture and soon became known for the high quality of his work. Over time, the company began to manufacture smaller runs of their most popular pieces, still employing the same high standards and traditional woodworking techniques which put them on the map. These values remain at the core of the firm to this day.
The companies collaboration with Hans Wegner began in the 1940s, when Carl Hansen’s son, Holger Hansen saw promise in the ground-breaking designs of the young designer. Hans Wegner’s Wishbone chair has been in production ever since.
