Arne Jacobsen

The Danish designer Arne Jacobsen was at the forefront of Scandinavian modernism; shaping the national image but equally the international movement. His work ranges from grand schemes for Royal Copenhagen hotel or the Danish national bank but equally to individual cutlery sets and clocks.

After attending the Architecture School at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1924 to 1927, Jacobsen went on to win a silver medal at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes for his rattan and metal piece of furniture, 'The Paris chair'. His work continues collaborating with manufacturers, but equally private clients, creating bespoke designs for new modern homes.

His classic designs evolve the geometric and stark aesthetic of modernism, introducing tactile and organic materials and shapes to his chairs, lighting and homewares.
